I’ve come across a couple dozen abandoned schoolhouses across central Texas, mostly by happenstance — for some reason, it seems that Texas has an overabundance of faded one-room schools tucked away in tiny, forgotten communities.
One of the more interesting I’ve come across is the Berclair School, an abandoned four-room structure in the middle of the Coastal Bend. Looks like it hasn’t been used for decades, filled with trash and detritus gathered over the years.
Berclair is an unincorporated community in Goliad County. It is part of the Victoria Metropolitan Statistical Area.
