I’m just throwing 15 on the page that we’ve shared with you over time. Otherwise this post would just scroll on and on and on… until sunset. And there’s a new one every day!
With so many great places in Texas to see the sun come up, there could be thousands of “best” sunrises each and every day.
So sit back for a few minutes and soak in some Texas sunrise beauties!
Sunrise at Fort Leaton in West Texas
The original adobe structure at Fort Leaton was a private residence dating back to the early 1830s. It was purchased in 1848 by Benjamin Leaton, who adapted it as a fortress.
Through murders, financial difficulties and abandonment, the structure changed hands numerous times.
In 1967, it was deeded to the state of Texas and opened to the public in 1978 as a Texas State Historic Site.

Old Church in Terlingua
A great sunrise over the Old Church in Terlingua with the mystical Chisos mountains of Big Bend in the background. This old adobe church, built in 1885, has been serving the faithful in Terlingua since the earliest mining days which ran from the 1880s to 1940s.

Sunrise in Vaughn
You can see for miles in this sunrise photo from Vaughn. Love it!
Vaughn is half a mile east of Aquilla Lake and nine miles southwest of Hillsboro in south central Hill County. Settlement in the community of Vaughan dates back to the latter half of the nineteenth century.

Palacios
One dubious story has it that sailors from a Spanish ship that wrecked in Matagorda Bay thought they saw palaces on the shoreline, thus the Spanish name Palacios.

Just before sunrise.
This view sure makes you marvel at all the beauty around us each day that we sometimes have to be reminded to notice. So I am reminding you… to slow down for a minute and have a look around you.

Balanced Rock in Big Bend National Park
Standing near Balanced Rock in Big Bend catching the day’s sunrise. For a few minutes, all is calm and all is quiet. Soon enough the day will begin and off we go!
Through Balanced Rock you can see Nugent Mountain.
